Red Arrows to celebrate 50th anniversary at special event at Biggin Hill Airport
THE skies above Bromley borough are to be graced by the famous Red Arrows this summer to mark the squad’s 50th anniversary of airborne displays.
Biggin Hill Airport has announced the RAF Aerobatic Team is set to fly as the star event at the 1st Festival of Flight in June.
It was at the airport’s International Airfair in 1965 that the pilots first flew and this year’s showcase comes as part of a new series, set to now take place annually.
Open to the public, there will be 15,000 tickets on sale and organisers are hoping local residents get behind the jet-fuelled action.
Airport managing director Will Curtis said: “We value our local community and we want to encourage as many Biggin Hill people as possible to join us at the airport for an ‘open house’ afternoon of fun, interest and amazement.”
Also set to feature are Spitfires and Hurricanes that are set to re-enact a World War Two battle, motor car displays, parades and other demonstrations.
Tickets will be on sale through the festival website: www.BHFOF.co.uk
