A CELEBRITY bootcamp owner has been sued by a school governor in a landmark libel case over comments allegedly posted on her private Facebook page.

Sharon Smith who runs GI Jane Bootcamp in Bexleyheath, who has trained Kerry Katona, Abi Titmuss, Michelle Keegan and girls from TOWIE, is accused of making remarks about former friend Joanne Walder to her friends on the social networking website.

The allegations concerning Ms Walder included comments claiming she was guilty of criminal acts of violence against persons and property and accusations Ms Walder was committing evil acts against Ms Smith’s child.

The comments were then re-posted by her sister Mandy Smith-Aichen.

At least 650 Facebook users could have seen the comment and the post also drew numerous comments and Facebook ‘likes’ from a number of other users, according to Rupinder Bains of Pinder Reaux solicitors who is representing Ms Walder.

Ms Walder, 48, from Bexley, said the comments were untrue and unfounded, and launched legal action in the High Court.

On Tuesday the court heard that defence documents that Ms Smith sent were reportedly lost according to Mark Thomas, spokesman for Ms Smith.

Mr Thomas added: “Sharon will defend herself in court against the claims and is looking forward to the true picture being laid out."

Ms Walder, who is a single mother-of-two and said it had been a "difficult and upsetting time".

Ms Walder’s spokesman added: "This has not come to an end yet.

"Jo is a single parent and this is an example of her standing up to something which was no better than school bullying."

Solictor Rupinder Bains added: "This case highlights again the importance of thinking before posting any comments online."

The case is set to be heard before the High Court in March.
