PEOPLE in Crofton Park and Honor Oak could be the first in the borough to seize control of their area's future under new government powers.

A group has applied to establish a neighbourhood forum and plan - the first of its kind in Lewisham.

The forum would be able to prepare a neighbourhood plan for the area to address social, economic and environmental issues.

And neighbourhood plans can contain a wide variety of policies relating to building and development, from the types of extensions people can build on their homes to the delivery of commercial development.

In the application, drawn up by Crofton Park ward councillor Cllr Pauline Morrison, the group say they want to conserve the area's character and foster community spirit.

Have your say by visiting the 'neighbourhood planning applications' page at lewisham.gov.uk and emailing planning.policy@lewisham.gov.uk. Responses are required by March 20.
