SCORES of people have signed a petition calling for a borough-wide 20mph speed limit in Lewisham to improve safety on the area's roads.
The petition has been organised by local campaigner Clare Griffiths after the Green Party's Councillor Darren Johnson failed in a bid to introduce the measure last year.
It is hoped the document will make Mayor of Lewisham Sir Steve Bullock look again at the decision.
Similar plans have put forward for nine other London boroughs, including Greenwich, and supporters credit the limit with reducing child pedestrian accidents by up to 70 per cent.
Back in January the general committee for Lewisham Deptford Labour also passed a motion in favour of the borough-wide limit.
