THE RSPCA has revealed the country is experiencing a "horse crisis" after they were called to inspect a group of horses in Slade Green.

The organisation is concerned about the conditions the animals are being kept in after sending an inspector to investigate in Whitehall Lane.

They are struggling to trace the owner but are continuing to monitor the situation after being alerted by residents.

A spokeswoman said: "The RSPCA shares concerns about the conditions these horses are being kept in and really appreciate calls from members of the public with information about them.

"An inspector is regularly checking on these horses and found although conditions are not ideal, due to recent bad weather, both horses appear to be in good health.

"The country is currently in the grip of a horse crisis with the RSPCA and other horse welfare charities struggling to cope with the numbers of abandoned, neglected and abused horses."

She added: "We have not been able to track down who the owner is, although the signs are that the horses are being cared for."

The charity hopes to trace the owner and offer them advice on how to care for the horses.

News Shopper was contacted about the situation by a concerned resident who wished to remain anonymous.
