GREENWICH COUNCIL is encouraging families to change to healthier eating habits by cutting sugar and fat intake for healthier snacks.

National campaign Smart Swaps offers healthy tips including swapping a two-litre fizzy drink – which contain around 52 cubes of sugar – to diet, sugar free or milk or water.

Other simple Smart Swaps include changing to reduced fat cheese, semi-skimmed milk, lower fat butters or spreads and from sugary cereals to low sugar ones.

Greenwich Council cabinet member for health Councillor John Fahy said: “Eating healthily is important for all the family and we’re encouraging families to sign up and choose their swaps by searching for ‘Change4life’ online at home or in our libraries”.
