A POLICE car was hit by a lorry on a dual carriageway in Erith yesterday afternoon, closing one side of the road for several hours.

The southbound side of Bronze Age Way was shut following the collision at around 2.38pm.

The unmarked Ford Mondeo the two officers were travelling in suffered a puncture and was pulling over when it was clipped from behind by a Volvo articulated lorry.

The Bexley officers, aged 28 and 39, were both treated in hospital for whiplash with one going to King’s College and the other to a south east London hospital.

The London Ambulance Service and officers from the Traffic unit attended the scene.

The driver of the lorry was unhurt and no arrests were made.
