FANCY free watersports, karting, brewery and vineyard tour or visits to iconic castles and cathedrals? Then you’re luck’s in, Visit Kent is giving away 25,000 free tickets for more than 112 attractions in March.

On Monday (February 3), kentbigweekend.co.uk goes live and people in Kent can apply for free tickets to some of the county’s best attractions.

Everyone has until midnight on February 24 to apply for tickets which will be allocated, up to two per household, by ballot once the website has closed.

The Kent Big Weekend on March 29 and 30 celebrates the county’s tourism and hospitality businesses, which contribute more than £3.4billion a year to the Kent economy and support 64,000 jobs.

It also marks the start of English Tourism Week.

This spring’s Kent Big Weekend features many opportunities to get out and about in some of the county’s finest scenery or enjoy a range of sporting activities from watersports, cycling and golf to experiencing the thrills of one of the UK’s leading karting tracks.

History fans can uncover the secrets of the country’s most famous castles, historic houses and gardens, and iconic cathedrals and castles alongside the many Kent museums, and historic and prehistoric sites taking part.

Popular wild animal parks and farm attractions, as well as activity centres and themed destinations, promise great entertainment for all ages. And tours at Kent vineyards, cider makers and breweries will introduce visitors to some of the local ingredients that have earned the county its reputation as the Garden of England

Meanwhile, there are also lots of opportunities to learn new or hone former skills such as jewellery and papermaking, ceramics and ballroom dancing.

Sandra Matthews-Marsh, chief executive at Visit Kent, said: “The Kent Big Weekend really highlights what a wide range of attractions and destinations our county has to offer its 57 million visitors each year.

“And this special Visit Kent event for local residents gives us all a chance to have a fun day out and discover attractions and destinations on our doorstep which we can then recommend to visitors, friends and family.”
