A TEENAGER who lost her mum to cancer knows she would be laughing at her favourite Bexley salon’s January fundraising wheeze.
Aimee Miller’s mum Karen was a regular at Gorgeous Nail and Beauty Emporium in Old Bexley Lane until she lost her battle with cancer in August.
Owner Sue Davies wanted to raise money to combat cervical cancer in her friend’s memory but instead of rattling tins or doing a fun run, the 46-year-old has come up with something a little different.
Since men have started raising millions of pounds by growing their facial hair for Movember, ladies have been getting in on the act by leaving their intimate parts untended during Fanuary.
With this in mind Sue has offered women looking to break their vow a little early the chance to help the Cervical Cancer Trust with every Brazilian or Hollywood wax leading to a £5 donation.
Aimee, 17, says her mum would have waxed lyrical about the whole thing.
The student at Dartford's Leigh Technology Academy told News Shopper: "We made a joke out of everything including her illness which I know sounds crass but it was a coping mechanism.
"She made a joke out of everything which was great.

"She did everything in life and it’s very rare you can say that about somebody who passed away at 41.
"She was someone who didn’t have any regrets."
Aimee, who lives in Valley Lane, Meopham, added: "My mum didn’t find her cancer early enough - it was seven centimetres by the time she did.
"It’s about raising awareness for everyone because obviously I don’t want anyone else to go through something like this."
Sue, 46, has now extended the offer by donating £2.50 for every bikini and g-string wax ordered until the end of the month.
She told News Shopper: "We all felt it was quite appropriate and Karen would have loved it - she’s probably laughing on the other side.
"We have done about 30 waxes already this month. With men it’s only on the face but we can’t go round showing everybody ours or we would get done for indecent assault.
"It’s a bit of a laugh really but it’s also about women doing something they maybe thought about for a long time but haven’t had the courage to."
