PUPILS from a Beckenham school have raised £200 after being “challenged” to think more about London’s homeless.

Year 5 children at Marian Vian Primary School were given a talk by a member of Street Souls, a charity dedicated to helping people who sleep rough.

Students were told that the organisation buys “good quality” sleeping bags at reduced rates to help those on the streets.

In response the year group raised the money by doing various chores at home and wearing special Christmas hats on the last day of term.

A school spokeswoman said: “Our children were keen to help others and we are so proud of their achievements."
