A FOUR star hotel, restaurant, wedding venue and conference centre is planned for the old Bromley Town Hall - one of Bromley's most historic buildings.

The original features of the Grade II listed building, which was constucted in 1906, will be restored and its historic setting enhanced.

This comes after Bromley Council entered into a conditional agreement to grant a long lease of the prominent town centre site in Tweedy Road to the Cathedral Group Plc.

Leader of the Council Councillor Stephen Carr said: "We are committed to ensuring that Bromley maintains its competitive position, building on our rich heritage, as well as stimulating new and quality developments.

"The Town Hall site is a fantastic opportunity to provide the town with a high class facility, enhancing Bromley’s offer to visitors, shoppers and residents."

Richard Upton, Cathedral Group Plc Chief Executive, said: "We are looking to create a high quality destination hotel in an iconic local building that will attract corporate clients with its top grade conference facilities and meet local demand for a first class entertainment and wedding venue."

Planning and listed building consent applications are expected later this year.
