POLICE want to trace the occupants of a white car and a bus stop witness following yesterday's Locksbottom accident which killed an elderly woman.

Emergency services were called at around 10.15am yesterday to the scene in Crofton Road where a car hit a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, an elderly woman, was taken by London Ambulance Service to Kings College Hospital where she died shortly after arrival.

Police say the car, a Jaguar X Type, stopped at the scene. The male driver was not arrested.

Detectives from the Road Death Investigation Unit are investigating.

Officers are particularly keen to trace as possible witnesses the occupants of a white car which stopped for a short time at the scene, before continuing towards Locksbottom prior to the arrival of police.

They also wish to speak with a woman waiting at a nearby bus stop who may have witnessed the collision.

Anyone with information should call police on 020 8285 1574.
