DEPUTY Prime Minister Nick Clegg visited Bromley last week as he prepared to launch a new mental health action plan.

He went to Green Parks House, a mental health inpatient unit at the Princess Royal University Hospital, Farnborough, run by Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.

Launching the new government action plan, Mr Clegg described Oxleas as an example of "the best possible mental health care in the world".

He was joined by Alastair Campbell, a mental health campaigner with personal experience of depression and alcohol issues.

Mr Clegg added: "I would like to thank all the staff at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust - I was so impressed with their commitment to listening to their patients, focusing on their needs and involving them in important decisions about their care.

"Even when patients have gone back home, staff keep in touch with them throughout their illness. And it really makes a difference.

"That's why I have announced a new mental health action plan today, so that patients throughout the NHS will benefit from services designed for them and so that we can bring mental health out of the shadows."
