A 79-YEAR-OLD man, married for 54 years, is "devastated" after his late wife's wedding ring was stolen from his St Paul's Cray home.

Patrick Knights, of Vernon Close, returned home on the evening of January 10 to find his house had been broken into.

Daughter Denise Knights-Tomer, 51, from Ashford, said: "My dad left the house at 4.30pm for bowls and he got back at 9.

"As he pushed the front door open he found it difficult to get in as the open hall cupboard door was pressed against it.

"He knew something was wrong."

"He went through to the back of the house and saw a great big hole in the patio door. There was glass everywhere.

"He went straight up to his bedroom and all his belongings had been thrown on to his bed.

"He looked on the chest of drawers and noticed the box he kept the wedding ring in was empty."
