A DARTFORD road remains flooded a week after News Shopper originally reported on it.

Bob Dunn Way in Dartford remains sectioned off following the wet weather despite desperate drivers trying to move the cones and drive through.

The A206 eastbound road is closed off between Marsh Street and M25 Junction 1A (Swanscombe) and it is unknown when it will open again.

The traffic alert on News Shopper's travel feed said: "The road remains flooded as the water table has risen above the road surface, making it impossible to pump the water away.

"People have been moving the cones and driving through the closure.

"There is a diversion: local traffic is having to divert through Dartford town centre along Burnham Road."

News Shopper: PICTURED: Flooding causes closure of A206 Bob Dunn Way in Dartford

A Kent County Council spokesman told News Shopper last week they are investigating the reports of the closure signs being moved.

He said: “Due to the extreme weather we have been experiencing over the recent weeks, the water table has risen to such an extent it has flooded the east bound carriageway of Bob Dunn Way to Junction 1A of the A282 Dartford from below.

“The ground water has risen through the highway drainage system and has flooded both lanes of the eastbound carriageway.

“We are regularly monitoring the levels of the water at this site, and will reopen lane two when it is safe to do so, followed by both lanes when the flooding has completely subsided.”
