AN AMBULANCE crashed into a car on Watling Street in Bexleyheath this morning while on an emergency call (Jan 9).

The collision occurred shortly after 8am while the ambulance was responding to an emergency in Cassilda Road in Abbey Wood.

No injuries were reported and the three occupants of the car were checked over by a duty officer but did not need to go to hospital.

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that while responding to an emergency call, one of our ambulances was involved in a collision with a car on Watling Street.

"It occurred just after 8am. We sent one of our duty officers to the scene. The three occupants of the car were checked  over but were not injured and did not need to go to hospital.

"Another ambulance was sent to the emergency call."

Police were on the scene to assist with traffic management in the area.

A Bexley police spokesman said: "We were called at 8.08am this morning. It was an ambulance and a car that were in collision.

"There were no injuries, only damage to the vehicles.

"It is not known whether the ambulance was on an emergency call at the time."
