Greenwich University student Harry Martin still missing after taking pics of stormy seas
THE search is continuing for a missing 18-year-old Greenwich University student who has not been seen since he went to take photos of stormy seas on Thursday (January 2).
Harry Martin, described as a “bright” and “conscientious” first-year film production student, was last seen around noon walking towards a coastal path near his home in Membland, Newton Ferrers.
Emergency services and volunteers have combed a 20-mile stretch of coastline either side of Harry’s home as well as inland areas but so far to no avail.
A Greenwich University spokeswoman said: “The entire university community is shocked and saddened. Harry is a bright and conscientious student.
“He has been settling in well, enjoying his course as well as wider aspects of university life.
“He is well-regarded by his classmates, who say he is a lovely, solid guy, and he has made good friends in the university.”
Devon and Cornwall Police, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, the Urban Search and Rescue Group, Dartmoor Rescue Group, HMCG, the inshore and offshore lifeboats, and a search and rescue helicopter from RMB Chivenor have all taken part in the search.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said: “Specially-trained police officers as well as search advisors and a lost person search manager have been appointed to help co-ordinate activities across the known areas.
“This provides us with the ability to target our resources to key areas and we have carried out structured searches based on the information we have available.”
He is described as 5ft 11ins tall, of slim build with short dark hair, a light beard and blue eyes.
He is thought to be wearing pink-coloured skinny jeans and a grey hooded jumper.
