PEOPLE aged over 40 in Greenwich are being urged to take up a health check.

The check is part of a national NHS Health Check Plus scheme to help prevent the onset of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease, dementia and other serious health conditions.

Getting a health check means that these conditions can potentially be identified earlier, which is important for getting the right treatment and making lifestyle changes.

Greenwich Council cabinet member for health Councillor John Fahy said: "The checks offer an option to achieve greater health and wellbeing and reduce their risk of serious diseases.

"I’d urge anyone between 40 and 74 to look out for their invite and take advantage of the scheme."
