Charity event to mark 21st anniversary of Claire Tiltman's unsolved death

News Shopper: Claire Tiltman's killer has still not been caught. Claire Tiltman's killer has still not been caught.

A CHARITY event is being held next month in memory of Claire Tiltman to mark the 21st anniversary of her death.

The evening will celebrate the life of Tilt, as she was known to friends, and feature a live performance from Abba Gold raising money for EllenorLions Hospice and the Fire Fighters Charity.

Claire was hoping to be a firefighter but aged just 16 she was stabbed more than 40 times in an alleyway off London Road, Greenhithe, on her way home to Woodward Terrace.

A big Queen fan, her and best friend Lisa Gribbin also used to listen to Abba together.

Lisa and five other of Claire’s friends set up the Justice for Claire campaign in 2012 following the death of Claire's father, Cliff, who went to his grave still not knowing who killed his only daughter.

The mother-of-four said: "I think we have been successful in getting Tilt’s name back into the spotlight.

"We want her name and her parents’ name to be remembered for something good – she was much more than what happened to her.

"We never give up hope her killer will be found. We have been in awe of what we’ve managed to do and I’m a great believer something good has to come out of something bad."

Last January a candlelit vigil retracing Claire's final steps along London Road in Greenhithe took place, with close to 300 people braving the snow to show their support.

The 2014 gathering is being held at Dartford FC’s Princes Park on January 18, with tickets costing £15.

There will be a DJ, raffle prizes and a dance.

You can support the campaign by purchasing a Justice for Claire wristband, available via the website for just £2, with all proceeds going to the two charities.
