The cold weather’s making my skin really dry and itchy, especially my face and hands. I’ve got sensitive skin anyway. Is there anything I can do? What should I be using?

The first thing you should do is invest in a good moisturiser for your face.

Dermalogica does a great product called Barrier Repair which targets sensitivity by rebuilding the skin’s natural barrier to protect against environmental and internal triggers that cause our skin stress. Barrier Repair will help to minimize discomfort, burning and itching.

Face masques are also another great way to restore your skin’s softness.

I recommend Dermalogica’s Intensive Moisture Masque. This provides vital nourishment for ultra-dry skin, or Ultracalming Relief Masque for the most sensitive of skins.

The best thing you can do for your hands is to treat them to a paraffin wax manicure. This would remove all dead skin cells, soothe and nourish dry hands and cuticles.

You should be using a moisturiser specifically for the hands as our skin here is thinner than the rest of our body and therefore can be more sensitive. Apply this morning, night and anytime in between.

You cannot over-do it when it comes to the hands.

You could also look into purchasing some Gel Moisturising Gloves made by Jessica.  These are gloves that have a polymer gel lining containing vitamins, nutrients and essential oils to pamper your skin.
