Police investigating an attempted burglary at a convenience store in Meopham are appealing for witnesses to come forward with information.

A man wearing a black mask entered the Londis store on The Parade on Wrotham Road at about 6.10pm on December 16.

He went behind the counter and picked up the till box and attempted to run off with it.

A shop worker blocked his path and the offender dropped the till and ran out of the store and up an alleyway next to the shop.

The suspect is described as a white man, about 6ft tall and of slight build.

He was wearing a black hooded top with a red shirt underneath, black Adidas jogging trousers and black gloves and a black mask over his face.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Shaun Ravate, of Kent Police, said: "I am keen to hear from anyone who might have seen the suspect enter the store in the early evening of 16 December.

"He was also seen to have left the shop by the alleyway and I’d really like to hear from anyone who might have seen this person either leave on foot or get into a car."

Anyone with information should call DC Ravate on 01474 366081 quoting reference XY/40724/13 or Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
