TWO Sidcup schoolboys are celebrating after a song they wrote was chosen to raise funds for Help for Heroes.

Hurstmere School pupils Lewis Dowse and Tom Gomes, both 14, wrote Home for Christmas with the help of the school’s Musician in Residence John Gilbert.

The boys performed the song at the school’s annual Christmas carol service on December 13 at Holy Trinity Church in Sidcup.

They wrote the song about a soldier away from home on active duty who is waiting to find out if he will be home for Christmas.

Edward Prentice, Kent’s Volunteer Co-ordinator for Help for Heroes, said: "I’m very impressed with their talent and what a wonderful way to raise funds for the charity."

The song is available to download from iTunes, Amazon MP3, Google Play and similar digital platforms, with all proceeds going to Help For Heroes.
