STUDENTS at a Sidcup school spread festive cheer with a Christmas party for the elderly.
Cleeve Park School, in Bexley Lane, hosted the event for 30 members of the local branch of Age Concern on December 16, featuring a three-course roast dinner and entertainment in the school hall.
Sixth-form music students Harrison Bodnar and Tom Monk performed solo while the school’s singing group The Cleevettes sang a cover of Keane’s Somewhere Only We Know.
All guests received a specially prepared hamper of essential provisions and festive treats.
Leftover food was donated to the Bexley foodbank.
Deputy Headteacher Carole Donner said: “We are all so proud of the effort and enthusiasm our students put into wider community projects which extend throughout the year, not just at Christmas.
“The school would like to thank Asda Bexleyheath, Wilkinsons Bexleyheath, B&Q Crittals Corner, Iceland Bromley, Morrisons Sidcup and Toby Carvery Bexleyheath for making such a generous donation of food and goodies for our hampers and the assistance given to enable us to host a successful party.”
Organiser Andy Moloney added: “Our guests reported back that they were stunned the generosity shown by our students and could not believe how much they had fitted in to two hours – and couldn’t wait until next year to be invited back.”
