DO you know someone who is mad about Christmas? So dedicated to Santa, tinsel and turkey that they deserve the name Mr or Mrs Christmas?

The bar to beat is high - this chap, 49-year-old Andy Park from Wiltshire, opens cards and presents every day before eating a full Christmas dinner and settling down to the Queen’s speech. And he has done for nearly 20 years.

Since July 1994, he has spent more than £500,000, eaten more than 7,000 turkeys and Christmas puddings – one a day – as well as munching his way through 42,000 Brussels sprouts and 21,000 roast potatoes.

But now electrician Andy doesn’t have to fork out as much thanks to Aldi, who have given him 730 of their award-winning mince pies – that’s one a day for him and for Father Christmas.

Since the publication of the Which? taste test in which Aldi’s mince pies came out on top, sales of the sweet treat have increased by 425 per cent a day, the company said.

An Aldi spokesman said: “Everybody deserves to be able to treat themselves to the best on Christmas Day, and for Mr Parks, that means every day.

“When we heard about Mr Christmas’s appetite for our festive treats, we thought he might need some Christmas support, and were only too glad to help out by offering him a year’s supply of our award-winning luxury mince pies – not forgetting one for Father Christmas.”

We know the News Shopper area is a festive winter wonderland, so there must be someone at least approaching the Christmassyness of Andy. If it is you, get in touch, we MUST hear from you! E-mail jim.palmer@london.newsquest.co.uk
