STAFF and pupils at a primary school have celebrated after inspectors decided they were outstanding in all areas.

Inspectors said John Ball School pupils were "enormously enthusiastic about their learning", progress in maths was superb and reception youngsters were branded exceptional.

In their report, the Ofsted team also praised "the exceptional headteacher" and "excellent senior and middle leadership team".

Headteacher Michael Roach said: "I am thrilled for the entire school community that inspectors agreed with our evaluations and recognised the wonderful team spirit here at John Ball. Our staff team continuously go the extra mile and reflect in depth on their practice to ensure that we are always moving forwards for our pupils."

He added: "This is the third successive time that the school has been judged to be outstanding which is a rare event in the country. Given that the bar has been raised by Ofsted, to be judged outstanding is a significant achievement for the school."
