A HEXTABLE church is appealing for donations to its hamper appeal to help the needy this Christmas.
St Peter’s wants to put together 30 or more parcels packed with seasonal treats so hard up families can enjoy themselves.
The church in College Road is after chocolates, toys, nuts, Christmas puddings and other non-perishables to be delivered on December 23 and Christmas Eve.
One of the appeal’s organisers Adam Price says the gifts could be a lifeline for those finding it tough at this time of year.
The trainee vicar said: "We are planning to get them out so people can experience a proper Christmas.
"It’s really tough out there and there are lots of people struggling to make things work so we are trying to alleviate some of that and spread some good old-fashioned Christmas cheer."
Anyone who wants to contribute can drop off gifts at St Peter’s or its sister church St Paul’s in School Lane, Swanley.
You can donate funds by texting the code HMPR13 followed by the amount (e.g. £10) to 70070.
