A MOTTINGHAM man has been jailed for three years after his mobile phone was found in a stolen car following a police chase.

Ricky Woodford, aged 34, of Kingsley Wood Drive, pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods and was jailed at Croydon Crown Court.

On May 20 officers pursued a vehicle in Mottingham after it had failed to stop following a collision.

The car was found abandoned by police and it was quickly established it had been stolen during a domestic burglary in Palace View, Bromley, a short while earlier.

A mobile phone found in the abandoned car was identified as belonging to Woodford.

He was arrested a couple of days later and charged with burglary.

Woodford denied the offence throughout, but pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods prior to the jury being sworn in.

He received two years for handling stolen goods and a further 12 months for breaching a previous suspended prison sentence for attempted burglary in December last year.
