NINE Lewisham schools hailed for the excellence will become inaugural members of a new Mayor of London 'club' for top teaching.
Brindishe Green, Eliot Bank, Fairlawn, Grinling Gibbons, Lee Manor, Rathfern, Stillness Juniors, and Our Lady and St Philip Neri Roman Catholic primary schools and Sydenham School are among the first 111 London schools to become Gold Club members.
Boris Johnson set up the Gold Club earlier this year to identify exceptional teaching in the capital's schools and helping them share experiences with other places.
Executive Headteacher of the Grinling Gibbons and Lucas Vale Federation Cynthia Eubank said: "We are very proud to receive this accolade on behalf of our pupils, staff, governors and parents."
