AN ELTHAM school will be demolished and rebuilt in a £30m project, after councillors approved the plans.
A seven-storey tower dating back to the 1950s, two pavilions and a technology building at Harris Academy Greenwich in Middle Park Avenue - formerly Eltham Foundation School - will be knocked down.
In its place will be a three-storey academy and four multi-use games areas, built in phases to allow the school to remain open throughout construction.
The new facilities will see the school grow from 800 to 1,150 pupils, including 250 sixth formers.
Funding for the project was approved by the government last summer and a Greenwich Council planning board has now given it the green light.
