Yes to Sidcup plans for hotel and halls of residence in Station Road
AMBITIOUS plans to build a hotel and university accommodation in Sidcup town centre have been given the green light.
Developer Pure Lake Group is set to demolish Christopher House in Station Road and replace it with a 106-bedroom Premier Inn and a nine-storey halls of residence for Rose Bruford College.
Professor Michael Earley, the principal and CEO of the Lamorbey Park-based university specialising in theatre and performance, says the development will help "benefit the regeneration and growth of Sidcup as a desirable place".
The plans were given the go-ahead at a meeting of Bexley Council’s planning committee on Thursday.
Committee member and Belvedere ward councillor Kerry Allon said: "I think a sensible decision was made and it will be an asset to the area.
"You’ve got a Premier Inn, rooms for students, shops below and a lovely public realm area as well.
"Sidcup is coming on leaps and bounds."
Do you think the new development will be an asset to Sidcup or an unecessary eyesore? Leave your comments below.
