A MAN pulled from the River Thames in Gravesend this afternoon (Nov 7) was 'stuck in the mud'.
Police and coastguard crews rescued the man at around 12.15pm after receiving reports of a person drowning in the river.
He was treated by medics and taken to Darent Valley Hospital with no serious injuries.
A Kent police spokesperson said: "We were made aware at 11.41am that there was a man in the river off West Street.
"The man is alive and has been taken to hospital."
A South East Coast Ambulance spokesman said: "A man was stuck in the mud up to around his waist and in difficulty.
"We attended the scene with police, the coastguard and fire services.
"We all worked together together to bring the patient to safety."
He added the man, believed to be in his 20s, had no major injuries but was taken to hospital as a precaution."
A spokesman for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency told News Shopper: "We received reports of a man in difficulty near the pier in Gravesend at around 11.45am today.
"Through a multi-agency response, including the Gravesend coastguard rescue team, fire service and police, we recovered the gentleman.
"The casualty was taken by life boat to Terrace Pier where he was transferred to await an ambulance."
