ENGLISH and German Arsenal stars battled it out on a simulated air field to see which nationality could ‘land a plane’ better in Greenwich.
The challenge, which took place at the new £4million Emirates Aviation Experience in north Greenwich, came ahead of the upcoming England v Germany friendly on November 19.
Arsenal English players Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kieran Gibbs and Carl Jenkinson took turns in the captain’s seat to land a double-decker Emirates A380 in Dubai.
But German teammates Lukas Podolski, Per Mertesacker and Mesut Ozil were the cockpit champions at the Greenwich studio last Friday (November 1) with Podolski crowned pilot of the day.
Ozil said of the experience: “I was a bit hesitant to go last since Per and Lukas did so well with their landings, but it was great fun and I thought I did ok.
“I’ll probably stick to being a passenger though!”
