Baby P's mother released from prison
THE mother of Baby P, whose tragic death was contributed to by Downham man Jason Owen, has been released from prison.
In May 2009 Tracey Connelly was jailed indefinitely with a minimum of five years for causing or allowing her son Peter's death.
Recently the parole board confirmed that a three-member panel had directed her release.
A spokesman for the parole board said: ''This is the second parole review for Tracey Connelly.
"The decision to release is a matter for the board, which is independent - arrangements and the date of the release are a matter for the Secretary of State.''
Baby P died on August 3 2007 with more than 50 injuries, despite being on the at-risk register and receiving 60 visits from social workers, police and health professionals over eight months.
He was found in his blood-stained cot at his mother’s flat in Tottenham, north London, and died later in hospital.
Jason Owen, aged 41, of Wittersham Road, was jailed at the Old Bailey for six years in 2009 for causing or allowing the death of the 17-month-old.
Owen was released on parole on August 5 2011, halfway through his jail term, but was sent back to prison for breaching his parole conditions.
Owen is the brother of Tracey Connelly's boyfriend, Steven Barker, who was also jailed.
