VIDEO POLL: James Blake, Blur, Placebo - who's your favourite Goldsmiths music star?
MERCURY prize winner James Blake has joined a long list of Goldsmiths students who have gone on to success in the music industry. But who's your favourite?
Blur formed at Goldsmiths, playing their first gig Student Union bar in 1989. The band later returned for a homecoming show.
Brian Molko, who studied Theatre and Dramatic Arts, graduated in 1993 and later formed Placebo, who have released six best-selling albums.
John Cale famously proved a handful at the university when he attended in the 1960s before heading to New York and joining legendary band The Velvet Underground, whose singer Lou Reed died this week.
Katy B released her first single in 2010, the same year she completed a degree in Popular Music at Goldsmiths. Like James Blunt, she was nominated for the 2011 Mercury Prize.
James Blake won the Mercury this week for second album Overgrown. He completed his first record in New Cross while studying.
Who's your Goldsmiths-inspired favourite?
