Gravesend's teen X Factor star Tamera Foster is 'ready for fame' says mum
GRAVESEND’S teenage X Factor star Tamera Foster is ‘ready for fame’ according to her mother.
Rachael Foster, 34, said the 16-year-old North West Kent College student, who is currently the favourite to win, has been singing all her life.
She told News Shopper that her family, including her 13-year-old son and daughter Kiera, 11, remain close and watch the live shows in the studios every week.
She told News Shopper: "With the support of her family, she’ll be fine. I think she’s ready for it all.
"As a family, we are very close - we talk on the phone constantly.
"She will cope as she’s very mature for her age. She’s already coping with X Factor beautifully and she’s living her dream."
She added: "I would be over the moon if she won.
"It’s quite overwhelming but she’s absolutely loving it and being given the chance to show what she can do.
"I’m just incredibly proud of her. I’m loving watching her achieve all her dreams."
Ms Foster added that despite her daughter’s life-long passion for music, she had never even considered entering the series and only ever sang around the house.
She said: "Tamera always knew that she wanted to be a singer but she just wasn’t sure how to break in to it.
"She started at about six years old - she always sung but only around the house. She was just like any other girl singing in front of the mirror with a hairbrush.
"It’s weird not having her here - it’s much quieter."
"She’s definitely been singing all of her life but she didn’t have any ideas about going on X Factor.
"She was talked into it by her mate Jerrie and she’d never given much thought to doing it herself until her friend asked her."
Tamera and friend Jerrie Bafundila initially auditioned as duo Silver Rock but were asked to perform in the arena auditions as solo artists.
Ms Foster, who became pregnant with Tamera aged 16, added she had no doubt who her daughter’s dream duet partner would be.
She said; "It would be Beyonce definitely. We haven’t discussed it but I know that Beyonce is her complete idol."
Tamera has already shown her passion for the singer, singing Dreamgirls hit Listen on the X Factor which Gary Barlow likened to a ‘Beyonce impersonation’.
