TOWIE star Lauren Goodger's Essex Angels bring Christmas party makeover magic to News Shopper
IF a Christmas party is not the time to pull out all the stops for a reem Essex makeover then when is?
Lauren Goodger’s mobile make-up crack squad, the Essex Angels, descended on Shopper Towers and tested their mettle on one of our own, media consultant Jade.
Angels Kiran Brar (make-up) and Roxie Slade (hair) set about creating a styling whirlwind.
Their end goal was a glamorous smokey eye look and big bouncy Essex hair, perfect for the office party – or in Jade’s case, an awkward afternoon being stared at at her desk.
While Roxie whipped out the curling tongs and Dream Rollers (or should that be Reem Rollers), Kiran set about Jade’s eyelids with more paints than a Wickes stockroom.
With a bag full of brushes and a keen eye for colour matching, it was fascinating to observe.
After much concentration on the eyelids, the eyeliner gel (should it be called Well Jel?) came before a set of terrifying-looking sparkly false eye lashes.
Despite their monstrous length and sparkle, these lashes – Lauren’s Way’s Midnight Diva – weren’t so heavy that they made Jade look drowsy, which is always a bonus.
With a tacky-not-sticky glue, those bad boys can come off at the end of the night and go back on at your next party too.
The eyeliner was touched-up, before the eyebrows were given some shading, though I’ll confess I was disappointed Kiran did not opt for the full Cara Delevingne brow.
More powders – highlighters, concealer, foundation and, finally, bronzer – followed as the make-up mounted to somehow create a more natural look.
Kiran’s massive selection of brushes was put to use to create a subtle effect, which chiselled Jade’s features Kardashian-style.
Kiran then brought out a laptop filled with shades of lipgloss (the liptop?), before some final touches of mascara.
With her face done, the attention turned to Jade’s barnet – which, at that stage, was trussed up like an artfully-arranged platinum Shredded Wheat display.
It looked like we may be going the whole Bette Lynch.
But it was not so. As the rollers came off, the curls fell and the added volume was immediately obvious.
The makeover was completed by some back-combing, half a can of hairspray and few clipped-in hair extensions – they’re made from 100 per cent real hair, though I’m still not sure how its harvested or how lucrative a sideline it could be for me.
The final Barbie goes Essex effect did, I admit, look a tad incongruous in the office. But, at a party, imagine that.
The Essex Angels are available for a variety of glamorous events, including hen nights, bridal trials, spray tan parties and good old fashion Essex nights out.
