VIDEO: Love in a Box scheme teaching 'life lessons' to Orpington children
CHILDREN at an Orpington school are learning important life lessons by packing shoeboxes full of toys, games and toiletries.
And once the deadline has passed at Crofton Junior School all the boxes will be sent to Eastern Europe and given to less fortunate youngsters for Christmas.
The school in Towncourt Lane has been doing the Love in a Box scheme for 10 years and head of junior school Susie King says it is important for the children to take part.
She said: “It is one of these life lessons to instil an attitude of giving and compassion to others who are less fortunate, especially at Christmas when our children get so much.”
Anyone who wants to help can bring filled shoeboxes to the school’s reception by November 15.
