THE best friend of murdered Chislehurst teacher Lauren Patterson has spoken of her guilt at leaving her in a car with two men the night she was murdered.

Miss Patterson was last seen alive by Lea Monet after the pair agreed to a lift home from the men, who they had been drinking with in a nightclub in Doha, Qatar

They stopped off at Miss Monet’s apartment first and she got out after Miss Patterson assured her she be would fine on her own in the car with the men.

Hours later the 24-year-old’s body was found in the desert and according to reports in the national press it was so badly burned it has yet to be officially identified.

Speaking to Mail on Sunday about the last time she saw her friend, Miss Monet said: "Lauren said she would be fine and the three of them drove off.

"It is a decision I will regret for the rest of my life."

Miss Patterson’s mother Alison, 48, has flown out to the country and says she will stay there until the killers are brought to justice.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Mrs Patterson said: "She had made so many friends. It wasn’t until I came out here I realised just how many people loved her.

"I will be staying in Doha for as long as it takes to see that justice is done for my daughter."

Two men have been arrested in connection with Miss Patterson’s murder.

A statement from Qatar’s interior ministry said: “The police has arrested the suspects of an European woman’s murder.

“The case has been referred to Public Prosecution to complete further judicial procedures applicable in this regard.”
