Waiter tried to smuggle drugs into Thameside prison, Thamesmead
A WAITER who tried smuggling drugs into a Thamesmead prison will serve two years in prison.
Mohammed Hussain, aged 25, was convicted at Woolwich Crown Court of conveying prohibited articles - cannabis, crack cocaine and heroin - into prison.
Police were called to HMP Thameside on February 1 by prison staff who believed Hussain was attempting to pass drugs to a person he was visiting.
DC Anna Brown, from Greenwich CID, who investigated the case said: "Thanks to the quick actions of the prison guards in securing the drugs and suspect and also with their crucial statements and CCTV footage we were able to successfully prosecute Hussain and he will now be spending a considerable time behind bars himself."
Hussain, from Whitechapel, was jailed for two years on October 8.
