Bexley Council's budget signed off for public consultation
BEXLEY’S cabinet has given the green light to the public consultation for next year’s budget.
The council is seeking views from the public on how to address the £10 million ‘gap’ it expects to face next year as a result of reductions in its government funding and increased costs due to local spending pressures and inflation.
Council leader Councillor Teresa O’Neill said: "Our government funding has fallen by one third since 2010 and the number of vulnerable adults and young people who need care is increasing.
"One of the ways we will try to limit some of the extra costs that result from this, is by intervening at an earlier stage to avoid higher costs that can result if problems escalate."
Information about the consultation will be published on the council’s website, together with an online survey.
Paper copies will be available on request from libraries and council offices.
