Grove Park station thief swipes phone from sleeping Bromley autistic man
A GROVE Park station thief swiped the phone from an autistic Bromley man who was dozing on the train.
PC Laura Kent from British Transport Police explained: "The victim, a 24-year-old man from Bromley, was returning home from a day at an activity centre and fell asleep on a train which was waiting to leave Grove Park around 4pm.
"A short while later, a man approached the victim and snatched his phone out of his hands and ran away before the victim was fully aware what had taken place."
She added: "Sadly, we believe the victim was specifically targeted because he was vulnerable and he is now fearful of travelling on trains and public transport as a result of the incident.
"Officers are providing support to the victim, keeping in regular contact with him and his family to ensure he is kept fully updated about the progress of our investigation."
Police have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the theft, which took place on August 14.
Anyone with information should call 0800 40 50 40 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
