Murdered Chislehurst teacher Lauren Patterson: Mother pays tribute
THE mother of a Chislehurst teacher murdered in Qatar has flown out there and says she will remain in the Middle East country until ‘justice is done’.
Lauren Patterson, who is believed to have attended Langley Park School for Girls, was working as a primary school teacher in Doha.
"She returned there from the UK last Friday (October 11) after attending her grandmother's funeral.
Friends say she was last seen outside the five star La Cigale Hotel around 1.20am on Saturday morning.
The 24-year-old’s body was reportedly found dumped in the desert.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, her mother Alison, 48, said: “Lauren was a wonderful young woman who was having the time of her life in Doha.
“She had made so many friends. It wasn’t until I came out here I realised just how many people loved her.
“She loved travel and loved teaching, so this was the perfect job for her.
“She always enjoyed being around children. She was a very giving person and loved little people.
“There have been so many people that have put to us as a family how highly they thought of Lauren and loved her, not just in the UK but Qatar and worldwide.
‘I will be staying in Doha for as long as it takes to see that justice is done for my daughter.”
Two men have been arrested in connection with Miss Patterson’s murder.
A statement from Qatar’s interior ministry said: “The police has arrested the suspects of an European woman’s murder.
“The case has been referred to Public Prosecution to complete further judicial procedures applicable in this regard.”
