Gravesham MP encourages Southeastern to keep Meopham station on track
GRAVESHAM MP Adam Holloway is railing against possible cuts to the Meopham train service.
Rail company Southeastern is considering changes to the line and the politician fears there could be reduced services to the station off Wrotham Road.
News Shopper reported in May last year about previous proposals for fewer trains to Meopham and Longfield which Mr Holloway and others successfully lobbied against.
However now it appears these stations could be threatened with reduced services again.
In a letter to constituents, the Gravesham MP said: "Passengers in east Kent already benefit from more choice when travelling to London and a reduction in the number of trains stopping at Longfield and Meopham would be an overwhelmingly disproportionate action against local passengers.
"Cancelling a two minute stop at Longfield and a two minute stop at Meopham – a total saving of four minutes – will surely not be of huge benefit to east Kent passengers when compared to the disadvantage to those using these stations."
The informal consultation finishes end of today (OCT 11) and anyone who wishes to give their views should email Mike.firstname.lastname@example.org
