Looked after kids persuade Mayor of Bexley to join a conga at awards ceremony
YOUNGSTERS persuaded the Mayor of Bexley to join them in a conga at an event this month.
The borough’s annual Looked After Children award ceremony took place on October 4, celebrating the kids’ achievements over the last year.
The young people received trophies, certificates and shop vouchers for attributes such as academic achievements and perseverance.
They helped coordinate the event at the Marriott Hotel in The Broadway, Bexleyheath, and even managed to rope Mayor Councillor Sharon Massey into a conga line.
Bexley's cabinet member for children's services and community safety, Councillor Katie Perrior, said:"This is always a fantastic event to attend.
"I am in awe at the achievements of these young people who very often have to triumph over real adversity.
"We have high hopes for all these young people in the future and in our official role as corporate parents we will do all we can to help them achieve even more."
