Brockley councillor Darren Johnson to stand down
A BROCKLEY councillor of 12 years and Lewisham's last remaining Green Party representative is standing down at the next election.
Darren Johnson, who is also a member of the London Assembly, announced the news today on his Facebook page.
He wrote: "I’ve enjoyed it immensely and worked with some wonderful local residents over the years on a whole range of issues.
"Twelve years is a long time, though, and I do want to find a bit more time to for some of my other passions in life, such as seeing live music.
"I’ll be enthusiastically supporting our new Green Party candidates for the ward when our team is in place and will be working hard for continued Green success in Brockley ward in the local elections next May."
Mr Johnson, who stood as a parliamentary candidate for Lewisham Deptford in 2010, saw his party's representation on the council wiped out at the last election but has remained outspoken on local issues.
