Family gather to remember murdered Natalie Jarvis in Swanley Village on first anniversary of her death
THE mother of a young woman murdered by her Sidcup boyfriend in Swanley Village says she is “just waiting to die”.
Adele Jarvis’ daughter Natalie was stabbed more than 20 times by her boyfriend Adam Whelehan, 23, after he went for a walk with her in a car park in nearby Button Street late on the night of October 2 last year.
Around 30 friends and family of the 23-year-old gathered on Thursday (OCT 3) at the spot where she was attacked to lay flowers and release balloons on the first anniversary of her death.
Whelehan, of Roseberry Gardens, Sidcup, used a silver multi-tool to carry out the murder and on April 25 he was sentenced to 26 years in prison after a two week trial at Maidstone Crown Court.
Mrs Jarvis, 50, of Walnut Way, Swanley, told News Shopper: “I feel like I am just waiting to die because then I will see Natalie again.
“Our lives are ruined forever. We walk around like robots and it’s a job to get out of bed in the morning. It’s s**t but we have to carry on.
Mr Jarvis lays a wreath by Swanley Village Road.
“People don’t want to be with us because we are sad and they don’t want their children in front of us for fear of upsetting us. I would say I feel like a freak.”
Husband Mark, 50, added: “I miss the laughter and the joy Natalie brought to everything. We used to call her the social hand grenade because as she walked into a room everyone was lifted by her.
“The laughter got louder and she made everybody so happy and losing her has made our lives empty.”
Despite the rain on Thursday, the audio visual manager at JP Morgan Chase said his daughter would have “loved it”.
He said: “She had a hand in it. She would have laughed watching everybody get wet.
“We come down here because we don’t want Natalie to be forgotten.”
