Award-winning Lauren Child visits Sydenham School pupils
SYDENHAM school pupils met one of the country’s most popular authors last week (Friday 4).
Award-winning writer and illustrator Lauren Child - who created characters Charlie and Lola, Clarice Bean and Ruby Redfort - met members of Year Seven to discuss her work.
The school, in Dartmouth Road, Sydenham, regularly hosts events with authors to inspire the pupils.
Library and Learning Resource Centre manager Diana Adams said: "She has had a fascinating career that combines everything from creating art-lampshades to working alongside Damien Hirst, and her successful books demonstrate her ability to combine compelling stories and images.
"Her illustrations have been hugely innovative and influential and her books are frequently listed among the top children’s titles."
A group of Year Nine pupils also recently reviewed the first Ruby Redfort novel for HarperCollins as part of the school’s collaboration with publishers.
