TODAY we’re brewing up a debate on one of life’s most frequent little arguments – how do you make the perfect cup of tea?

People can often reach boiling point over this hotly contested subject so let off some steam and tell us your secret to making an unbeatable cuppa.

For me it always starts with putting a splash of milk into a mug. After the kettle’s boiled I drop a teabag into the cup and pour the water in. I never see the need for a teapot.

After about three minutes I fish the teabag out, giving it a firm press against the inside of the mug with the spoon to squeeze out a last bit of flavour.

The last part is a matter of taste obviously, but I finish it off with a couple of sugars as unsweetened tea is basically wrong.

This is my recipe for a perfect cup of tea. I realise there are plenty of variations but I’m yet to be convinced any of them are even remotely right.
