UPDATE: Woolwich Road flyover shut after hit and run involving lorry
A MAN was taken to hospital after being hit by a lorry on the Woolwich Road flyover.
Emergency services were called to the southbound A102 at 11.20am this morning to reports of a man in collision with a lorry.
The driver of the lorry failed to stop at the scene.
Police say they are currently working to trace the driver.
A second person was also treated at the scene for minor injuries but did not go to hospital.
A Met Police spokesman said: “It is still very much a live and on-going investigation.”
Traffic is currently queuing through the Blackwall Tunnel and has backed up well before the tunnel on the other side of the river.
All surrounding areas are congested and motorists are advised to find an alternative route.
There is currently no estimate as to when the flyover will re-open.
A LAS spokeswoman added: "We sent a single responder in a car, an ambulance crew and a duty offier to the scene shortly after 11.30am."
