TWO thieves who targeted the Glades’ Apple store were caught by using a Find my iPhone app.
Remiah Fyffe-Gayle, 19, and a 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, snatched two Macbook Airs, five iPhone 5s and an iPhone 4 from the store on August 9 before running off.
Security staff from nearby TK Maxx tackled the teenagers, causing them to drop the Macbook Airs that they were carrying in a shoulder bag.
The pair were tracked to Shortlands train station using the Find my iPhone app and the 17-year-old was arrested on the platform.
Fyffe-Gayle attempted to escape by fleeing down the tracks but was arrested near Bromley Magistrates’ Court.
Both were charged with theft, with Fyffe-Gayle being charged with the theft of 13 other iPhones from the same store, six on August 2 and seven on August 6.
Fyffe-Gayle, from Harrow, was sentenced to eight weeks detention in a Young Offenders Institute after pleading guilty to three counts of theft from the Apple Store at Croydon Crown Court on September 12.
The 17-year-old, also from Harrow, was referred to the Hillingdon Youth Offender Panel for 12 months after also pleading guilty to theft.
